The Program on Foreign-related Arbitration in 2024 was held in Hangzhou

The Program on Foreign-related Arbitration in 2024, which was organized by China Academy of Arbitration Law (CAAL) and co-hosted by HZAC, was held in Hangzhou from May 27 to 31, 2024. 50 arbitration practitioners from 36 organizations around the country, including arbitral institutions, enterprises, universities and law firms, participated in the program.

The opening ceremony of the program was held on May 27. Cui Xinmin, Deputy Division Director of CAAL, moderated the opening ceremony, with Liu Fengquan, Deputy Director and Secretary General of HZAC, and Li Xuanle, Deputy Secretary General of HZAC, attended the event.

Li Xuanle delivered a welcome speech on behalf of HZAC, saying that HZAC has been attaching great importance to the development of foreign-related arbitration, and making efforts to resolve domestic and international commercial disputes so as to build a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized first-class business environment. The program lectured relevant theories of international commercial arbitration and discussed practical issues from different perspectives, aiming at offering a high-level platform for cultivating foreign-related arbitration talents and for academic exchanges and training, and providing advanced experience and reference for the trainees to broaden their international visions, effectively enhance their legal thinking in foreign-related affairs and improve their abilities for cross-border cultural exchanges. Li hoped all the trainees in this program to give full play of their professional strengths and transform the knowledge and spirit gained in the courses into practical outcomes that promote foreign-related rule of law work.

During the five-day training, Cao Lijun, Partner of Beijing Zhonglun Law Firm, Lu Fei, Director of Business Development Division of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Professor Tao Jingzhou, independent arbitrator at Arbitration Chambers, Professor Liu Tong from School of Law of University of International Business and Economics, Jiang Hong, Partner of Global Law Office, Dong Chungang, Partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng Law Firm, Fan Mingchao, Executive Deputy Director of Shanghai Arbitration Commission, and Professor Wang Guohua from School of International Law of East China University of Political Science and Law, respectively gave lectures on Differences Between International Arbitration and Domestic Arbitration, Practices of Foreign-Related Arbitration in CIETAC, Latest Development of International Commercial Arbitration with Techniques and Strategies in Arbitration, Interim Measures in International Arbitration, Preparation of Evidences in International Arbitration and the Relevant Procedures, Judicial Supervision in International Arbitration and Cross-Border Enforcement of Arbitral Awards, International Arbitration Proceedings and Arbitral Awards Drafting, Theory and Practice on International Maritime Arbitration and other hot topics in practice and theory of international arbitration.

After the program, the graduation ceremony was held. Lu Hang, Director of Foreign Commercial Law at Henan Guoyin Law Firm, Qian Jiang, Associate Professor of the Law School of Zhejiang University of Technology, and Xu Bin, Deputy Director and Secretary General of Jiuquan Arbitration Commission, shared their training experiences as trainee representatives. They all expressed that the courses were systematic, rich in content, clear in level, and scientifically practical, effectively enhancing the trainees' understanding and awareness of the latest developments and practical knowledge in foreign-related arbitration.

Finally, members of CAAL and HZAC presented graduation certificates to all the trainees. The Program on Foreign-related Arbitration in 2024 was successfully concluded.
