HZAC held the 2023 HZAC Commendation Ceremony and Symposium for Outstanding Arbitrators

The 2023 HZAC Commendation Ceremony and Symposium for Outstanding Arbitrators was held on August 11. 56 outstanding arbitrators were recognized for their excellence and presented with honorary certificates. The ceremony was attended by Liu Fengquan, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-General of HZAC; Shen Xiangming, the member of HZAC; and Deputy Secretaries-General Zhao Liang, Ni Zhen, Bao Li, and Li Xuanle. Bao Li presided over the ceremony and, on behalf of HZAC, expressed sincere gratitude to the honored arbitrators for their dedication and outstanding contributions to the cause of Hangzhou arbitration.

During the meeting, Ni Zhen read out the Commendation of the 2023 HZAC Outstanding Arbitrators. Zhao Liang then summarized HZAC's arbitration work for the first half of 2024 and outlined the work plan for the second half of the year. Li Xuanle delivered a lecture centered on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. She also briefly reviewed the progress made in the reform and development of HZAC since the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee. Concluding her remarks, she introduced the new mission and requirement of earnestly advancing the development of the rule of law and deepening reforms in the field of arbitration.

The symposium was presided over by Liu Fengquan. A consensus was reached among the participants that building a strong team of arbitrators is essential for enhancing the credibility of arbitration. It was agreed that all arbitrators shall continuously enhance their capabilities in serving the overall interests, monitoring arbitration proceedings, and maintaining integrity and self-discipline. They shall also consistently elevate the standardization of arbitral procedures and the professionalism of arbitral awards, firmly guarding the baseline of impartial and incorruptible arbitration and shouldering the responsibility of building a law-based business environment. Moving ahead, from the new starting point of building the Hangzhou Court of International Arbitration, all arbitrators are called upon to unite their efforts and forge ahead. They shall strengthen their sense of responsibility and urgency in the development of foreign-related arbitration, delivering concrete results in improving the quality and efficiency of awards, making dedicated efforts in the promotion of arbitration, and achieving tangible outcomes in serving opening up and development, fully showcasing the new landscape of high-quality development of arbitration during this new era.
